Head Coach Lisa Sluiter

RRCA Level II Certified Coach, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, AFPA Certified Nutrition Consultant, FMS Certified Exercise Specialist

Lisa Sluiter has enjoyed competitive running for over 20 years, competing in everything from 5k’s to Marathons; triathlons to adventure races.  She has a passion for life and a wide range of experience that uniquely qualifies her as a professional running coach and personal trainer.  She is certified as a personal trainer, running coach, nutrition consultant, and FMS (Functional Movement System) specialist.

Lisa has spent eight years in the Amazon region of South America where, among other things, enjoyed competitive running and organizing racing events for local villages.  She inspires those she meets wherever in the world she finds herself; encouraging a life of discipline, health and integrity. For recreation, Lisa enjoys hiking and camping with her husband and three boys.


Coach Jennifer Gomsak

Jennifer firmly believes that fitness goes way beyond looking good.  Rather, it is more about how it improves your health, quality of life, and self esteem.  A great workout should be fun and enjoyable; a time to reset and recharge, and a way for us to let go of our daily stresses.    She takes pride in designing workouts that are both individualized and challenging that will help you uncover your inner athlete and leave you feeling accomplished and successful.  

Jennifer graduated from Loyola University with a degree in Business/Marketing where she ran Cross Country at the Division 2 level.  She worked in the corporate world for 10 years before transitioning into the Health and Wellness field.  She has gained much experience since then, working as a Health Coach, Fitness Consultant, and Personal Trainer.  In addition she works as a private trainer and running coach for adults and children.  Joining the Fit180 team in January of 2014, she is a great addition!  Jennifer is one of our assistant coach for various programs throughout the year and enjoys working with this talented group of young athletes.

Coach Chris Barajas

Coach Chris Barajas

Chris Barajas has enjoyed many successful years as a dedicated head coach for the Weddington Middle School cross country team.  His charismatic coaching style has inspired hundreds of young runners that he’s coached over the years.   His love for the sport and competition is contagious and evident to everyone he’s around.

Coach Barajas began coaching with Fit180 in 2015 with the Junior Olympics XC season and has been a great partner to Fit180 and mentor to our young champions.

A mother of two girls, competitive runner and triathlete, Karen has been competing for over 10 years and has completed five Ironman triathlons.  Her love and passion for running and racing is further evident in the long list of triathlons and marathons including the Boston Marathon.

Her Christian faith being a guiding principal, Karen loves to take the gift she has been given and transfer the skills and passion of competitive running to young athletes.  She has worked at the middle and high school levels in multiple sports; focusing on building speed, agility, and strength.  She absolutely loves working with kids and watching them grow in skills, confidence and character.

Marissa is an experienced and charismatic coach who loves working with kids through the venue of endurance sports.
She is an accomplished Marathon Runner and Boston Qualifier who also competes regularly on the local level.  Marissa has experience training both youth and adults runners.   She enjoys working with a full spectrum of runners from beginners to advanced.   Her passion for working with young champions began while coaching several seasons of Let Me Run.  Marissa joined the Fit180 Team in 2015!


Assistant Coach Steve Hall

USAT Triathlon Level One Coaching Certificate

When it comes to endurance sports, Steve has established a reputation in the Charlotte area for his ability to help the athletes reach their potential. He has competed in all ranges of triathlons, including the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, as well as endurance running events, and the Eco Challenge Primal Quest.

With his experience in the military, Steve has developed a coaching style with structure and accuracy, and has infused his unique ability to motivate and inspire each of his athletes. He plans, adapts, and accommodates training plans for athletes that help them achieve beyond what they thought was possible. Steve is completely invested in the athletes he coaches.


Assistant Coach Joe Hussey

Joe Hussey began running competitively in sixth grade.  He performed in Junior Olympics for three years, qualifying for the National JO Champions for two consecutive years.  He continued competitive racing until 2016 when he decided he would try his hand at coaching.  Joe assistant coaches for Cuthbertson Middle School and more recently joined Fit180 as an assistant coach for the 2016 Junior Olympics program.  He works as a summer camp counselor for middle school aged kids and loves to inspire kids to run while making sure they enjoy it at the same time.  He is a great example and mentor that has a powerful connection with young athletes.




Assistant Coach Emily Erwin

RRCA Certified Run Coach
Emily Erwin has been an avid runner for over 26 years and has a great passion and love for the sport. One of her greatest passions is supporting local races that raise money for cancer research. She was a coach for the Isabella Santos Dream Team for two years. Emily has run many half and full marathons, while her greatest running accomplishment was running the Boston Marathon.
Emily has two children and worked as a preschool teacher for 6 years. She has always loved working with children and believes running is the best sport to help build self esteem. We are privileged to have Emily on the Fit180 team!
